 Short Functional Text Definition

Short functional texts are types of informational texts to help the readers understand the information quickly. Called as Short functional text because it is on average very short and has a special purpose.

Slightly different from genre text, functional text is more applicable, written and used in daily communication. Actually, there are many kinds of functional texts in English and they tend to develop because of their functional nature.

There are lots of examples of short functional texts that we can learn, but this time I will focus on explaining about Greeting Cards or Congratulation Cards.

I. Congratulation Card Definition

The definition of congratulation card is giving someone a special card with our good wishes for them and for a happy event.

Structure

The purpose is to congratulate someone’ achievement, express sympathy on someone’s, and motivate someone on gaining achievement.

a. Receive: people who receive.

b. Content: contains of greeting card.

c. Sender: people who send.

Writing a simple congratulation card must show gestures, as if the words are speaking to represent your happiness. In fact, you can also add warm words that describe your characteristics.

For example, you can make examples of congratulations in a casual way like this:

• Congratulations, Bravo! – Selamat ya, keren!

• I knew you could do it! Good job! – Aku udah tau kamu bisa kok melakukannya, kerja yang bagus!

• You did it! I am so proud of you! – Nah, akhirnya kamu berhasil! Aku bangga sama kamu!

• I am so happy to think of your promotion. You deserve to get it. – Aku bahagia banget denger kamu dapet promosi pekerjaan. Kamu pantes kok dapetin itu.

• Congrats to my best new home owner! It looks amazing with your touch! – Selamat buat pemilik rumah baru terbaikku! Keren banget pokoknya!

• I'm glad you think so.

• It's very good of you to say so.

 Or, you can also make sentences that are more formal as follows:

• Congratulation on your achievement – Selamat atas pencapaianmu.

• Warmest congratulations and best wishes on your achievement – Selamat dan doa terbaik untuk pencapaianmu.

• Congratulation on your big success – Selamat atas kesuksesan besarmu

• So pleased to see you achieved great things – Sangat senang melihatmu mencapai kerja yang bagus!

• You have a great talent and creativity to do whatever to follow your dream. Keep up your great work! – Kamu punya talenta dan kreatifitas yang tinggi untuk melakukan apapun demi mengikuti mimpimu. Lanjutkan!

• That's wonderful!

• You must be happy with your achievement.

• Please accept my warmest congratulation.

II. Writing
